I would want to wear it for a few years. I don't know how the facebows would be held in place. In the story I'm writing the orthodontist used special wire with a tamper seal where it was twisted thigh.

Would I wear it myself? Absolutely not.

Would I enforce it on someone else in my fantasy second career as an orthodontist? Absolutely yes!

I'm not surprised to see that I'm in the minority here by voting 'no'.

I'd like to think that if I was prescribed headgear by orthodontist I would be fully compliant and wouldn't need to have it wired in :)

Since I'd be jumping at the chance to have headgear prescribed to me at all, the notion of two facebow wired in instead of one is just thrilling!

If I'm undergoing such an extreme change in appearance that'll be compulsory, I'd want the event to have some weight to it. I'd want at least 3 years in full headgear 24/7. Just thinking about it has me giddy. That's 3 christmases. 3 birthdays! 3 years worth of photos of myself with 2 face bows forced into my mouth the entire time? How could I say no to that?

In terms of the method of wiring them in, I'm the type that wants to find a sort of comfort and security in knowing that my headgear isn't coming out. I'd want the ends of the inner bows to be welded into the buccal tubes they'd normally just be inserted into, and have those sets of buccal tubes with the facebow already welded on, then cemented around my molars. Following this the orthodontist will also regularly change the style of head strap, also changing the color frequently just to keep things interesting. Oh, if only there were an ortho that'd grant me this!

When I was in the throes of my first braces experience, I was VERY non-compliant with my headgear wear, for several reasons.  One day my orthodontist said that if I don’t start wearing the damn thing, he would wire it in.  Considering this was over 30 years ago, I have no recollection of what I did to avoid such maltreatment, but I know I did!
Now, would I do it?  Erm… uh…  I am old enough now to know that there’s a massive difference between reality and fantasy.  It’s a cool kink and a nice dream to indulge in when you stand alone for 6 minutes in the shower, but honestly, hell no.  Or at least, hell no for an extended period.  Would I like to “try it out” and see?  With the right friend for the right timeframe, I think yes.  I may even make it 3, 4 days!  But getting that thing stuck in my mouth indefinitely?  Pass, thanks.

Nowadays headgears are getting seldom, because for that treatment devices like the pendulum appliance will be used, but then you would have a device on your palate.
But regardless if headgear or pendulum, if my dentist would tell me that another treatment would be needed, I would say: Yes...
I also survived a huge Bionator, so a headgear would be less a problem.
