Hi, this is my first post and i'm getting braces in the beginning of may. I went to my consultation a few weeks ago and decided on getting clear ceramic braces, as i didn't want people to notice i was wearing braces. I am 23. Wanted braces a long time ago but up until now couldn't afford them. Being the person i am i decided to do research on the clear ceramic ones and decided that maybe i should do ceramic on top and metal on the bottom teeth. There are to many problems that come with wearing all ceramic they stain, are bigger than the metal and can break easier. If i decided to get them only on the top that could only get rid of the bulkyness problem and also i wouldn't have metal mouth, i'm to old for that.
I do understand that wearing metal braces bring faster results so i looked on YT to see how people looked with them, and surprisingly most of them didn't look to bad. I notice that the brackets seem smaller then they did when i was younger. I googled different typed of metal braces and came up with nothing so i called my ortho office and asked them if they did mini metal braces and the rep. had no idea what i was talking about. If i had the opportunity to get smaller looking metal brackets i would do all metal.
My next appointment for x-rays is on the 24th of next month and want to have a decision by then. I just like to do my research before i make a decision. For the adults who had all metal or both metal and clear ceramic at the same time what was your experience?
