They had talked about it many times. His wife once confessed to him that she found men with braces exciting. Now he had fine teeth, so there was no reason to go to an orthodontist. But he loved his wife dearly and gave her all the pleasures, so he made an appointment. His wife had asked him ten more times if he really wanted to wear braces. "I wear everything for you," he said. Even if it wasn't the normal metal fixed brackets, she asked. "Even then," he said.
The visit to the orthodontist had been disappointing. His teeth were fine, the orthodontist saw no reason to provide him with braces.
When he told that when he got home, his wife had looked glum. "Too bad, I would have liked to see you with braces." He had repeated that he would have started treatment with love.
That conversation was weeks ago. "I have a plan," his wife started now, "which you would do me a great favor with." And she asked if he remembered what he had said about wearing braces and if he still always thought. "Of course," he replied.
"Then I have a surprise," smiled his wife. ,,Just hold on.''
He heard her busy in the kitchen, heard the tap running, and then walked back into the living room. "Close your eyes and open your mouth."
He obediently closed his eyes and opened his mouth as far as possible. He felt that she was putting something in, and realized the next moment that she was making an impression of his upper teeth. Not much later also the lower teeth followed. "You'll see," she said when asked what would happen to that.
He hadn't asked any more: he knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't tell much about it.
Two weeks later, when he got home, he noticed that his wife was excited. She beamed, greeted him enthusiastically. "I have a surprise," she said.
If he wanted to sit on the couch and put on the blindfold she had put there. He meekly followed her instructions.
"Open your mouth," she said. Suddenly he remembered the session with the impressions. He felt her smear something on the inside of his teeth. And then pressed something firmly into his upper teeth. "Keep it open for a while," she said as he saw a blue light under the blindfold.
"And now try to close your mouth carefully."
