I am sure we were all hoping to see Veerle Baetens give an acceptance speech at the Oscars if her movie wins for Best Foreign Language Film.  Sadly I read today that she will be having her braces taken off for the Oscars, then they will go back on.  She said the brackets make her lips stick out and she will be in Los Angeles where looks are everything, especially for a woman in the movie business. 

i understand why she is having them taken off, but Since she had them on for her Best Actress award in Europe I thought she would do the same here.  Too bad, probably the only time in Oscar history someone wearing braces gave a speech.
