Retainer?

People say teeth shift with age. Can you get a retainer later in life to stop shifting even if you have never had braces? Has anyone heard of this?

The whole purpose of a retainer is to stop teeth from shifting. It does nothing to change the alignment. So if you want to stop your teeth from shifting that’s what you want. They are simply there after braces to stop relapses. You can wear one without ever getting braces. However if you are looking to fix your smile you can use Invisalign which looks exactly like an Essix retainer.

My teeth have definitely shifted with age, and I've really noticed it lately.  In about a month I'll be getting new retainers after almost 20 years of not wearing them.  You're never too old for braces anyway, go for a consultation.
