I had a bonded expander which completely covered my back teeth and then got two sets of braces (and a forsus appliance) after.

I got my expander a month and a half before braces, and then got the expander off after five and a half more months. I only had to turn it for the first 7 days.

I had a removable expander when I was maybe 12? Then braces. I preferred the braces because they were easier to talk with! ;D

Nah I never had one, always wondered what it would be like though.

It's like, you never really get used to it completely. After a couple of weeks the lisp goes away, but your tongue is literally resting on the expander all the time, and every time you eat you're busy making sure the food doesn't get stuck in there, so you're constantly reminded that you have a plaque of metal covering your palate that you can't get out.

I had aremoveable expander plates for about one year. Afterwards I got my fixed braces, later on with elastics too.

I had an expander before my braces and the rest of my treatment. I found it to be annoying at first and then got used to it.

My treatment was lower braces and upper fixed expander with these paperclip like springs to push on the back of my front teeth. I got reverse pull headgear that hooked to the expander but I was so young I hated it all, I refused to complete treatment and got it all removed. It wasn't until to late that I started to really appreciate it all. Oh how I wish I could go back
