Facemask
« on: 04. October 2009, 17:31:12 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I've had a facemask for about three months now, I'm 23 year old guy so the dentist was understanding and said I only have to wear it at night to avoid embarassment  - but that this means it'll take much longer to do its job, so if I wear it more at the weekends it would be best.  Well, I've finally managed to wear it out last night in London, only for a short trip but people seemed pretty cool about it.  Some even asked questions and just seemed interested.

Anyone else managed to wear a facemask/headgear out??  Looking for others to accompany a facemask wearer out next time - strength in numbers!

Thanks for your support everyone!  Progress is going well, I managed to wear it out last night to a bar.  Was a great thrill, lots of people were really cool about it to the extent that two beautiful girls came over to our table and sat with me wanting to chat about braces for a while asking if I thought braces would be good for them... Of course they would!  I'm not sure what the next step is for wearing it out to gain confidence???

That's really pretty encouraging. Those face masks are pretty noticeable. Glad you could use them to get noticed! Sometimes all it takes is a good conversation piece to get the ball rolling.

I dont believe this. Face masks are used while you are still growing due to its purpose. If your 23, there is no possible way that your ortho prescribed you a facemask because you are done growing.

Actually it can be used for very intensive teeth traction, but this is a fetishist orthodontist's method ;)
