New Aimes book
« on: 29. December 2012, 19:47:37 PM »
Catherine Aimes has a new book out called "Living the Braced Fantasy." I wrote this review, which I also posted at Amazon:

Author Catherine Aimes took an extremely interesting approach to this book, and I think it worked out VERY well. Essentially, she polled the readership of her previous books via her website to see exactly what they wanted in her follow-up novels. "Living the Braced Fantasy" is the first of the resultant books.

As with Aimes's other books in her "Erotic Orthodontic Encounter" series, this is not for minors or really anyone offended by somewhat offbeat (but harmless) explorations of alternative sexual fetishes. Make no mistake, this is a sex story, and it's an excellent one if the idea of a pretty adult woman wearing braces is something that interests or intrigues you.

Without giving too many spoilers, the story is fantastic in the true sense of the word - but this is a "Braced Fantasy," right? The protagonist goes through a huge variety of (poll-tested and approved!) orthodontic treatments and appliances, while her braces-obsessed boyfriend is forced to delve into a bit of bondage play in order to keep up. The descriptions of the sex are enjoyable and erotic if this is a fetish of yours, though never terribly graphic. This can be a plus or a minus, depending on how you prefer your erotica.

I must say that Aimes's writing style has become much more fluid, natural and enjoyable compared to some of her earlier books. It seems like she's definitely growing as a writer with each novel, and "Living the Braces Fantasy" is by far the easiest and most pleasant to read of the four Aimes novels I've completed thus far.

My criticisms are few. I initially thought the story started out a little quickly, moving from the main character's remote and idyllic, yet slightly embarrassing, idea of wearing braces to almost instantly deciding to have them put on. However, in fairness, this is a 200 page book (a novella or a novelette?). Diving right into the story is, in this instance, probably preferable to lingering. Most people reading it will be chomping at the bit to get immediately into the orthodontic action, anyway!

As I've mentioned in a couple of previous reviews of Aimes's books, there are some typos. No one is perfect, obviously, and typos happen, but she really needs a better proofing process. I've seen typos and other small errors in both the Kindle and print editions of her books. Still, this remains a minor criticism compared to the overall content of her books, which is truly unique and very imaginative.

In summation, I think this is by far the best of Aimes's adult "Erotic Orthodontic Encounter" series. If braces are your thing, I recommend it very highly!

Thanks, Ingo. I was going to post a link, but I didn't want to seem like a *total* shill for the author.

You won't - I think you've written a very balanced and insightful review. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm certainly going to delve into her writing after this and to create some revenue for her is certainly in our best interest as members of this forum!
