How to share a story
« on: 25. April 2024, 16:58:05 PM »
I need a little advice and guidance. Well over a year ago I began writing a story that started out mostly about orthopedics, but with some orthodontic content. I tried to post a link to where I publish my story, but evidently the site that I use I am not allowed to link to here. Since so much of the story was orthopedic, I didn't pursue sharing it here.

However, over time the amount of orthodontic content increased quite a bit. There are many fanciful things, especially in later chapters that are along the lines of mr_90proof's work. I even made a joking comment in his post about hacking my computer to get ideas from some of my yet unpublished chapters.

So, what I would like to know is if and how I should share my story here. Each chapter is a text file, and so far there are over 200 chapters. The first 50 chapters are very short and of poor quality but get much better later on; I'm an electronics tech, not an author... Until now. I was thinking of putting them into a zip file so people could read them at their leisure and I would begin posting the latest chapters here, twice weekly, as I do at the site I'm not allowed to link to.

What I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion as to where I could put the zip files online to share. I am not up on computer technology at all and I only got a smartphone a few years ago. Technology is not my thing, hell, I still drive a car with a carburetor and points ignition. If someone would kindly suggest a simple and easy way for me to share my work, I would be glad to do so. In one of Sparky's story challenges, you might have read my work with the characters from my main story.

Please lend me some friendly advice,

NapaCaster

It is okay to tell people you have an account on DeviantArt, just don't post a direct link to it.

If you want to post the story here, go right ahead. The stories posted here aren't just about orthodontic braces, though they do feature prominently. Just stay within the rules for what is allowed to be posted here. https://www.bracesforum.net/general/forum-rules/msg26236/#msg26236

Mr_90proofs story has back, leg and neck braces and a minor element of the submissive lifestyle in his current story.

Sparky has written about leg braces, glasses, crutches, hearing aids, and fairies in his stories.

m1090y and I did a story about a crossdresser.

As long as the story isn't too adult, it will be fine to post here.

It’s not Deviant Art, it’s a different site that I frequent. The zip file would work and you could post that here. Having read it, I would definitely think it falls under the guidelines for this forum. It is really well written, too, and a great story.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'll work on zipping things and posting it here and doing regular updates. I guess a link to DA is what got me in trouble with the moderator. It's all there and at a couple of other sites, too.

Ah, so that’s why your account got deleted! One day I went on and it just wasn’t there.

My account here was not deleted, I was just reprimanded. I did have some trouble on some other sites, but not related to any posting. It was database issues that caused some accounts to be lost.

Thanks for the compliment, TrainTrack. Writing has been quite the learning experience for me and thankfully I have become better at it. My first chapters were a joke.

I tried to attache a zip file here, but evidently it is either not enabled or I don't have the permission level to do it.

Oh well... ???

I’ve been enjoying reading your story. I’ve gone back to the beginning recently to reread it. I hope everyone on this platform takes the time to go find it and enjoy it for themselves.

Thanks! It's been fun to write.

My story is titled 'Leigh and Joel'. Searching for that along with my username here will find it. I don't think saying that will violate the rules; there is no link.
