new orthodontist in town
« on: 13. July 2016, 01:59:33 AM »
I was in town today and saw a new orthodontist had opened up in town. How do you think I should approach him about maybe getting me some nice shiny new braces??

If you are not brave enough to make an appointment and ask for braces, I'm not sure how else you expect to get them... lol.

What do your teeth look like? Are they 100% perfect? Is your bite 100% perfect? If not, ask your dentist for a referral. It's highly likely they'd find something to "fix." No plotting or scheming will be required on your end. It's a business, they want your money!

I agree with Cassandra. In the end, orthodontists are in business to make money like everyone else. If they want your money, they'll find a reason to put you in braces, and I suspect that's even more true for a new practice that's still trying to get new patients.

Some of it may depend on what you say, though. My wife's regular dentist - an honest family dentist she's been seeing for two decades - told her she was silly when she asked him about possibly getting braces. The first ortho she consulted, when she only said she wanted braces to straighten her teeth a little, recommended top braces only for a year. At the next two consults, however, she mentioned she wanted to fix her bite (a mild crossbite on one side). Those two both recommended braces top and bottom plus elastics for 18-24 months. Obviously we'll go with one of the latter.  ;D

Mike b and Cassandra I am getting a new dentist soon now I can afford one so I will bite the bullet and ask about an orthodontic consultation. My bite isn't perfect by a long way so like you say they will find a reason to put be in braces (I hope)
