I tested this software over 3 weeks in last year. This software has at least 20 additional/better funktions as the old foren software. In the next days, i will post some major improvements.

...It's not very user friendly...

Why?

It's difficult to tell by the front page which topics have new posts.  On the old forum, when you were logged in, topics with new posts were indicated with a bright orange icon.

On this new main page, I can't figure out what's what.  There's a symbol on the left that looks like a triangle with a line through it.  Some of them are gray, some are blue, but it doesn't seem to reflect accurately one way or another which ones have had activity.

This is going to take a lot of getting used to.  I realize this was done in an effort to improve the site -- and  while the effort is definitely appreciated, there is an old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".  I saw nothing wrong with the site the way it was.

Just my two cents....  ;D

It takes a lot of time and work to convert a community to a completly new software. We wouldn't do that just for fun ;)
The old software did have a lot of safety gaps and we had large amounts of spam posts each day.
That was the main reason for changing to a new and better coded software.

Some of them are gray, some are blue
That should be simple:
New Posts
No New Posts
(as mentioned near the footer)

Have you tried using the link "Show unread posts since last visit." - that's the best way to check out the new posts, imho.
another good and simple way is using our rss feed as a dynamic bookmark in firefox.

I changed the blue "new"-icon to a bright-orange-one. I hope you like it now ;)

That's great....except there are topics that were last updated on December 13, 2006, 08:43:07 AM that are flagged as "NEW".  It used to be that only topics that had new posts since your last visit were designated with this.  It doesn't help at all if things that were updated a month ago still say "NEW".   :(

from "Show unread posts since last visit" is no way to the thread. After the click on the topic name, appears only the single new posting, but not the complete thread. Thats not my way.

i used View the most recent posts on the forum (on the bottom of the page). There is a complete list of the last postings. When you folowing this new posting, you find on upper right of the single post, a bold link to the complete topic.

Other Tips:
Go to your
profile>Look and Layout Preferences
Activate
Return to topics after posting by default (otherwise you jump after posting to the root)
maybe
Show most recent personal messages at top (sort newest PM to the Top of the inbox)

profile>Personal Message Options
Show a popup when you receive new messages?

(often I write PM to the member, because the containts of postings. Some members need 3 month to find out, they have a 'new' PM)

Other new Funktion, you can closed the german board, with a Button (-) on upper right of german board. Then the english board apears 'higher'

at the first moment, to many postings mark as unread. I think this error came from the move of the board. Perherbs it is recommended to use nonrecurring 'Mark ALL messages as read' lower right the club board

Yes, that came by converting the board-software. Just do a "Mark ALL messages as read" to reset this function.

Ahh!  That's better!  I marked all messaged as read, and since then only the new stuff has gotten highlighted.

Thanks for the tip!

The new layout is going to take some getting used to, but that definitely helps.
