Ugly Betty depreciation thread

I mean, I love exposure of braces and everything. But the way they make her look in that series is DEFINATLY ugly, yes they succeeded. Would be nice to potray someone as the hot one in braces for once rather than the one that looks ugly. I think the actress is pretty, but the way they dress and make her up is obviously because of the storey designed to be anti-justice.

i went to the movie store the other day and ugly bettys face is everywhere on the dvd all huge and on shirts and now she has a calender , what i dont like is that its all bling bling braces and dont look real at all, i have never seen the show but they look super bad on a shirt and everything else

I just don't get it why the "nerd" always has to be pictured with braces and glasses?

It's strange that tv producers still cling to the notion that getting braces is a socially traumatic event for a teenager. Pretty much everyone at my school had some sort of orthodontic treatment at one point or another, so teasing, (about braces at least), was almost non-existent. If anything, the newly braced would get some sympathy and have stories to swap of their appliances and/or orthodontists!
