Who here has actually had braces themselves?

Everyone that uses this forum obviously has an interest in braces, but I wanna know who here has actually had braces themselves at any point in their lives?

I never have, but I do need them however... I just can't afford it...

I wore full braces for 3 years and have been VERY lucky to date 3 girls who were wearing braces. One of them only had top braces when I was dating her unfortunately, and none of them wore headgear or a facemask
Girls in facemasks and headgear are HOT!

I will have braces as soon as I take my decision (I must have surgery and I don't like this).

I'd need surgery too if I decided to get braces, because my jaw is slightly crooked... That's really what I'm afraid of... not the cost :?

I had braces (full bands -- early 1980's) and headgear.  Before the braces and headgear I had an expander for a few months.

A couple of different retainers to start with. Then fixed braces for three years, most of the time with different elastics and for a time rubber chain things (along the wires), then removable retainers (top and bottom) for ages afterwards - which I still need to wear at least twice a week at night. I've had new ones from time to time (we're talking seven years of wearing). But I like my retainers in a private sort of way - they feel comforting when I put them in, and they've kept my teeth nice and straight. I guess that's one of the reasons why I like to see other girls wearing them too (as well as fixed braces).

I have them.  I can't wait to get them off.  People say that they are so cute, bu I hate them.  I hope to God i get them off soon.  I don't understand why anyone would want to get them if they don't need them.   :(

I'll bet you look pretty good in the metal- once it's off you'll just have another boring smile.

wow that adds to the whole thing. i need surgery as well and am the most scared i have ever been. mostly cause im so damn curious that i have surfed every website possible on maxilofacial surgeries and fell on some way-too-graphic pictures...hehehe. but i cant get braces only, its braces and surgery or nothing.
my teeh are very straight, its my bite thats awefull.
But hey! if it gives me the chance to have braces i'll take it...hehehe
they are coming on in excatly 30days. my orthodontist has never met smeone so excited about getting braces. he didnt even propose me the metal ones, i had to make him change the plan cause i want them shiny after all.
in 30days...for 3 years...plus surgery...and then the whole retainer phase of course...
im am creating a website as we speak, to document my treatment and to cater to orthodontal braces fetishism. it's going to be a blast.

I have braces right now! I've had them since last summer and am not sure how much longer I need them. I had them as a kid - from age 11-13 and my teeth were perfect for 10 years. Then I developed really crooked teeth and an open bite. I couldn't believe it! I am hoping my braces this time (and wearing a retainer for several years afterwards) will keep my teeth straight for the rest of my life! Oh and I have silver braces and I love putting on different colored rubberbands each month! I feel so young again :) Jen
