My wife never had braces in her life although she does need them.
Yet that are only minor problems and some crooking.

She told me once that her parents suggested braces when she was 17, but she declined, because braces are not cool in that age and while dating.

From time to time we discussed to Go to the ortho, but she never did. If you are over 18, you have to pay yourself for ortho. Thats one reason, why she never pull the trigger.

My wife is fully aware of my interest in braces. She said, that I can order her fake braces, if I want.
Two weeks ago I surprised her with the dental kit.

Now we are waiting for the arrival of her fake metal braces. The shop already emailed the design of the braces.
I cant wait to see her in braces.

The braces for my wife from the Shop arrived.
They look really realistic. Only the speech is a little bit affected.

My husband got an MSE last Friday and will get braces after that. He had fakes before this.

Really? Nice!

What triggered him getting treatment?

He’s had bruxism for years, but recently it’s gotten really bad and has been keeping me up at night, which he hated.

I have responded here ages ago, maybe time for an update  ;D
My (now ex) bf wore braces for already a long time before I met him. Fixed upper and lower metal, self-ligating but really nice.
We were together for about 8 months and it was a dream having a bf with braces. He also was the one who in the end convinced me to get them again and we still had about 4/5 months of braces together.

From that perspective it could’ve been an experience to last forever…  ;)

A little tip: Night-time grinding cannot be questioned by your partner, but is at least enough for a Retainer with bite plate...

my wife used to wear braces in her teens (before I knew her). she told me she also wore a 'plate' for a while (I haven't probed for further details) as well as headgear at nights. I've asked her a few times about it but the conversation never goes too far - I don't want to push it too far and close off the subject forever!

In case anyone cares...

We had another conversation about this the other day, I tried to ask fairly innocent questions but she knows I have a bit of a kink and I didn't want to close off the topic forever!
Seems she had headgear first, for 9 months, then the 'plate' appliance for 6 months, then fixed braces for 9 months. Her headgear included straps over her head as well as behind her neck, and she said that it hurt and admitted that she cried the first time they put it on her in the chair. The 'plate' appliance had wires connecting to her teeth and was apparently to bring her canines down (I asked indirectly if it was an expander and she said no, but I can't really imagine what it looked like... any suggestions?). Then she just had regular fixed metal braces for 9 months which was shorter than the original estimate, I think because she showed very good compliance with her headgear and plate.

Oh and her lower teeth have shifted a bit since then (her treatment ended about 22 years ago I think). I asked if she would consider more treatment to correct it and she seemed open to invisalign but not keen on metal braces sadly!
