As I mentioned I would, I took some pictures of my jawline now that the swelling has subsided. I also have a few with my new elastic patterns.
For those of you wondering, I’ve made a couple of calls to my insurance company. I called once last week and got super annoyed with the service rep, but kept the conversation polite and respectful. I dreaded having to call back once I got more info from my surgeon’s office, but did so today. I got the kindest service rep I could have asked for. I explained to her about the denial and she was very upset for me. We spent almost an hour looking through call logs. She found a call that matched the date my doctors office contacted them for the pre authorization, but couldn’t see the notes because it’s a different department. She could tell me nothing was approved or denied. As the conversation went along, she was telling me different things from what I had been told last week. I kept asking for clarification because I was getting 2 different responses. One being I could only file a verbal appeal- not true; and the second that I had to have a Medicare supplemental policy for my surgery to be covered without a pre authorization, also untrue. What ended up happening is someone did not read the claim properly where it indicates that my surgery was inpatient. That fact does change the requirement for needing pre authorization due to my other insurance, Medicare A becoming the primary policy before blue cross. She recommends that I still work on submitting an appeal, but is going to work on her end to get the matter straightened out and covered from her end. She was so upset, she even gave me all the info I needed to file a complaint with the state if the insurance doesn’t accept the appeal. I feel vindicated!
As for my jaw since being off of antibiotics, each day I’ve had an increase in discomfort. It’s very subtle. There’s still no swelling, fever or icky discharge, but I am a little more tired than I have been too. Maybe my body will continue to fight it off, maybe the infection will return. I don’t know, but I’m going to take advantage of not being on any medication related to my surgery.
