Tiny gap forming between the two upper front teeth.
« on: 25. February 2013, 12:15:44 PM »
I have wore metallic braces for 2 years. Then I've gotten a wire glued on four of my upper front teeth for about 10 months + the essix retainer.
Now I'm only wearing the essix retainer for about 2-3 months and have just noticed a very small gap beginning to form on the bottom of between the two front teeth. The characteristics of my gap is depicted on the right image, below, but the width of the gap is even smaller.

Note that I had an almost unnoticeable gap between the teeth after the braces came off, but now it seems to have gotten slightly bigger in the last 2-3 months.

Can I expect the gap to get bigger, if before the braces, the two front teeth were intertwined? Should I be worried, or is this normal?
P.S.: I'm not sure if "intertwined" is the correct term. Image that two teeth are getting closer and closer, and even when they collide, they still keep on going. Well... I had those kind of front teeth :)

More info: For the last 2-3 months, I am wearing the retainer for about 20 hours a day.
The two front teeth don't fully fit anyway because one tooth is a bit curved.
If I press hard on the sides of the two teeth, I can temporarily push them together to close the gap a bit.

Thanks!
