What are my possibilities?
« on: 19. October 2019, 18:01:13 PM »
Hey guys, hope to get your advise on my condition :)
New in this forum, 23 years old from Europe.

I had braces (just normal tingrin with ugly colorful ligatures on) around the age of 12 for 2 years, and I think that one time experience was more than enough for me, however, I do feel that something is not quite right with my teeth.

When I finished my treatment, I didn’t feel that my teeth were perfectly straight, but I was 12, so obviously didn’t care and just wanted the braces off. I have those fixed retainers behind my teeth and 2 years ago the upper one kind of got loose, and of course I haven’t done anything about it as I’m kinda scared to revisit the orthodontist and hear what he has to say.

It feels and seems that my bite is weird, I don’t know the medical name for that (if someone has a clue, I would love to know), it feels as my lower jaw is “pushed” to the right side of my mouth. I didn’t notice it that until lately, and know I can’t not notice that and wonder if it might do more problems in the future. All I remember from my actual treatment is the ortho being concern about the slower growth of one of my jaws, but not sure which ones and he never did anything about that or explained what it means to me.

Now I think I will have to go for a check up and fix the retainer and ask him about the misaligned jaw, but I must come mentally prepared! Does anybody know what that jaw pushing thing means, and what there is to do with it on adults? I really don’t want to have braces again, and I can’t pay for those expensive clear braces for sure, so I hope I can help my condition somehow easily without getting braces again when 23 years old.

Please let me know what you know, as I feel that I need to prepare myself for some sort of treatment.

Thank youu

Sounds like a crossbite. Upper jaw proceeding too far infront of lower jaw is overbite. Lower jaw protruding out any bit of the upper jaw is an underbite (I had surgery correct mine) and of course what it sounds like you nay slightly be dealing with thus being a crossbite where your jaws are mis aligned horizontally from a front facing profile.

Thank you Libtech, appreciate your fast respond!
The crossbite description seems right. Surgery sounds pretty extreme for fixing such a problem, did you have more options? Surgery sounds scarier than braces ????
And what kind of surgery was it?

Just a quick question- been searching online, and found an ortho who treats adults without surgery with removeable appliances called ״Aragao" or "Bimlr".
I've never heard about any of the above, and wonder if someone ever heard of that, and knows if it can actually fix anything? I can't find much info online, or any pictures of the Bimlr appliance and couldn't find more than one picture of the Aragao (which doesn't look so hideable).
